Cheonggyecheon : Sightseeing places in Seoul

Cheonggyecheon is a river with a total length of 10.84km and a basin area of 59.83. All the water in Seoul is gathered here and flows to the east, and then flows together with the Jungrangcheon to the west to change into the Han River. Also, there are many shops selling antique books and antiques in the Cheonggyecheon area.

There are a lot of aquariums, the birds shop are mixed in between the aquariums, and there are a lot of pet stores selling other hamsters, insects and reptiles. (There are many bird shop next to the aquarium.) Not only crocodiles and turtles, but also animals that can be raised only by smuggling is illegal to import into the country.

The Cheonggyecheon was originally covered with roads. There were many problems, and there was a risk of collapse. As a result, the Seoul Metropolitan Mayor took 380 billion won on July 1, 2003, and started the demolition of the Cheonggye Elevated Highway. From the Gwanghwamun Donga Ilbo to Seongdong-gu, Seongdong-gu, about 5.84 km was completed on September 30, 2005. The Cheonggyecheon restoration project has a positive aspect in providing citizens with a relaxing space in the city center and creating new tourist attractions. In fact, after the opening of the Cheonggyecheon, about 190 million foreigners visited Korea from 2005 to 2015 over 10 years.

The most immediate effect of the Cheonggyecheon restoration project was urban maintenance. The Cheonggyecheon stream was used to improve the surrounding environment and raise the attractiveness of various industries, thereby diversifying the land use in the surrounding area. Land prices have also risen, and the economic benefits gained from them are also significant. In other cities, the maintenance of the downtown river has been spreading like a fashion. National Geographic has also emerged as an example of a successful city park.

Walking around Cheonggyecheon has a variety of attractions and easy access to other attractions. If I want to visit Seoul, but do not know where to go? Walking along the Cheonggyecheon stream can be a good experience.
