Seoul story #5. Variety ways to solving a meal

Last time I wrote about how students attend to university and where university students live. So today I try to write about how students eat meal. There are more ways to eat meal than this post, but here I try to cover some of the most representative ones.

1. HakSik : Restaurants in University
As many people know, there are restaurants in the university for the convenience of students. Many students use it because they can eat meal at a reasonable price. Unlike high school, you can choose your own menu and you can eat as much as you like. In the Korean internet community, 'Which foods are better at which university?' Is often a topic of discussion.
Unluckily, the food at my university is not tasty. It does not taste like that either. At a reasonable price, it has the right nutrients. So I use it often, but my friends often do not.

2. Restaurants outside the university
Students who do not like the taste of meal of universities tend to go out of the gate and try to eat at various restaurants. There are various restaurants around the university. There are Korean dishes, Japanese dishes, and Chinese dishes, and the prices are generally less expensive (but more expensive than HakSik). When the time between class and class, students tend to go to the restaurant with friends and eat meal.
Sometimes when I go to a restaurant in nearby university at lunch time, there are many students who wait a restaurant shit. So, you have to wait a few minutes, too. So, when the class is finished, let's run fast and get to the restaurant. When I eat meal quickly, I have time to play with my friends before going to class.

2-1. Take-out
Some restaurants have this patterns. It mainly sells in take-out. It is not fast food, but makes it as fast as fast food. They also sell rice burgers and sell Dosirak(lunch boxes). The price is cheap and gives a moderate amount of meal.

3. Convenience store(CVS)
A small number of students have a meal at a convenience store. You can use Gimbap or Dosirak(lunch boxes) at convenience stores. Nowadays, products from convenience stores boast a higher level than expected. (This story will be covered in detail next time in the posting '#Korean Convenience store's Food Series'.)

4. Cooking yourself
As I mentioned earlier, students living alone near the university may settle for their own meals at home. The house they live in is equipped with a kitchen, so the level of simple cooking is possible. They cook rice directly, boil the soup, and even make simple side dishes. If so, the cooking skill is increased to some extent, and there is a case that various dishes are done. Sometimes they invite friends to eat meal together.
But the problem of 'Cooking yourself' is that it 's more annoying than anything else. To cook, you should buy food ingredients at market, trim the ingredients, and stand in front of the Gas stove. After eating it, it is time to do dish-washing. Because of this hassle, they tend to buy a takeout food at restaurant. After the class, they go to restaurant and takeout the dishes. And they can eat at home and throw away the garbage. There is no need to buy food ingredients at market and do not have to dish-washing. How comfortable!
