Seoul story #3. Public transportation of Seoul

There are many ways to go to school. Of course, if the distance between your home and your school is too far away, you have to consider other ways, but I'll cover that in the next story. This time I try to write about the students who come and go to school. Students take the bus, ride the subway, and take a taxi. Some students go to school by car. Most students, however, tend to use public transportation.

1. Subway
It is the most typical commute. The subway has the advantage of running fast, and the subway fare is very cheap. For about 1,300won(1.2dollar), the distance can be comfortable. Also, the transfer system between subway lines is so good that you can see every corner of Seoul. It is well connected with satellite cities around Seoul as well as Seoul.
However, the number of users is very large. The subway in commute time is very crowded. It can not catch the handle, it is moved by crowd. Therefore, it is the strategy of the students who commute to school to take class time differently from commuting time. It is said that the subway that has the most number of visitors per day is Gangnam Station on Line 2. Statistically, 200,000 people use it every day. Gangnam is famous for its Gangnam style, but it is recommended that people who want to visit Gangnam should avoid commuting time :(

2. Bus
The buses in Seoul come at a glance because they are clearly distinguished by route. Also, it is easy to understand how to get to the destination with good route guidance at each bus stop. The advantage of buses is that buses are everywhere. The transfer system between the subway and the bus is also good. If you get off the subway and get on the bus, you can get the discount rate. And in Seoul, there is a bus-only lane, so the bus runs well away from cars.
However, 'bus-only lane' is not everywhere. When a bus passes through an area without a bus-only lane, the bus goes as slowly as any other passenger car. And the buses are crowded with subway as there are many passengers. Sometimes it can fall when you make a sudden stop, but it is also protected by others.

3. Taxi
Taxis are a good way to take advantage of when you are likely to be late in class. It is expensive compared to buses and subways, but you can go quickly and conveniently. Korean taxis drive fast. In particular, the taxi gets tougher and faster as you leave the city. If you take a taxi when you go to a place that does not carry a bus or a subway, your eyes may flutter in driving a taxi.

4. Car
It is not uncommon to have a car as a student. But it is not without it at all. A small number of students have a car and drive by car. Obviously, cars are convenient for envy of friends who do not have cars, but students who drive always said "I don't have money because of car...". But It is comfortable to have a car though. It's really comfortable ... (I will post how to get a car license next time.)

Seoul is a very crowded city. About 10 million people live in Seoul. Except for Gyeonggi Province, only Seoul's population accounts for 20 percent of the total population of South Korea. In addition, there will be many more people in Seoul who attend Seoul to work or attend school from Gyeonggi Province. Therefore, riding public transportation in Seoul is not easy. Public transportation is good, but there are too many people. People moved there residence to countryside who have lived in Seoul say, " It's really hard to live in Seoul". But I still love Seoul. :)
