Image
2. Hongdae-Geori (Hongdae Street)    The second sightseeing place is Hongdae Street. Hongdae Street is the street near Hongik Daehakkyo(Hongik University), literally the street near Hongik Daehakkyo. It is a place where the arts such as art and music have developed from ancient times. Even if you visit Hongdae street these days, you can see many busking teams. There are many clubs and famous brand stores. In fact, Hongdae street can be said that hipster culture has developed in Korea. Mostly students in their 10th to 20th year play a lot in Hongdae.  Hongdae street is especially poisoned on Friday and Saturday night. If you go without thinking, you get caught up in the crowd. So if a person wants to go in a small time zone, I would recommend going in the daytime.  If you make a promise to meet in Hongdae street, you do not have to worry about where to meet. Because there are road points all over Hongdae street. Hongik Univ. Station, Hongik University front door (Hong Mun

Myeongdong : Sightseeing places in Seoul

Seoul has many attractions. Typically, there are Gyeongbokgung, Myeongdong, and Namsan towers. This time, I want to deal with the sights of Seoul. Historical places like Gyeongbokgung are classified separately, and here I try to focus on good places to visit.   1. Myeong-dong  Myeong-dong is located in Jung-gu, Seoul. If you want to know the most famous places in Seoul, Myeong-dong is a typical sightseeing place. Myeong-dong is now Korea's cultural and financial center, has a variety of attractions, and has many banks. There are many things to eat, too. If you plan to visit Myeong-dong, I recommend you to prepare cash. Because it sells a variety of foods on the streets.  Myeong-dong was also designated as a special tourist destination for foreign tourists. So, if you stand on Myeong-dong Street, you might get confused. Chinese and Japanese are spontaneously written on the doorsteps of shops located on the streets, and those who promote are promoted in Chinese a

Convenience stores in Korea: Prologue of food story

Image
As in other countries, there are many convenience stores in Korea. Convenience stores are mainly located near stations or roads and operate for a long time. Usually it operates 24 hours a day, and everyday. They sell a lot of things, so when you need something, you can easily buy anything at a nearby convenience store. It sells sanitary products such as stationery, sanitary napkins, tights, as well as simple hardware, and also sells food. Even courier services are available. They also sell emergency drugs!! As such, convenience stores in Korea are almost universal. There is no such thing that can not be obtained.    I try to write about food among them. Previously, there was a lot of awareness that convenience store food was not very good, but it has changed a lot these days. Many people buy food at convenience stores. The price is also cheap and delicious. And it is easily to eat alone. Many workers buy a lot of foods in convenience store and university students buy a lot

The Midterm exam was over!

I don't have been writing for a long time. I guess I did not write about a week. In fact, there was a reason. This is because this was the midterm exam period for Korean college students!  In general, a Korean university lasts 16 weeks. So at the 8th and 16th weeks, I'm going to take the midterm and the final exam. This week was the 8th. Do you think did I take the exam well? I do not want to answer that. ;)    Today I want to talk briefly about the criteria that a university scores. Korean university students went to high school and come to university. But they can't stop studying too at university. I had to study at high school as if everything was going to be over when pass at university. However, as in university, you don't have to study the way of memorizing unconditionally like in high school. Instead, study at universities requires a lot of thought, and grades are assessed through various assignments.    During high school, I used to take exam

Seoul story #5. Variety ways to solving a meal

Last time I wrote about how students attend to university and where university students live. So today I try to write about how students eat meal. There are more ways to eat meal than this post, but here I try to cover some of the most representative ones.   1. HakSik : Restaurants in University  As many people know, there are restaurants in the university for the convenience of students. Many students use it because they can eat meal at a reasonable price. Unlike high school, you can choose your own menu and you can eat as much as you like. In the Korean internet community, 'Which foods are better at which university?' Is often a topic of discussion.  Unluckily, the food at my university is not tasty. It does not taste like that either. At a reasonable price, it has the right nutrients. So I use it often, but my friends often do not.   2. Restaurants outside the university  Students who do not like the taste of meal of universities tend to go out of the

Seoul story #4. Obtaining a house at Seoul

Some of the students who attend university are difficult to attend school. It is a student who is too far from home to take the time to school, or the cost of school trip is too expensive to attend school. Such students will have a residence near the school. Let's find out how students prepare their place in Korea.   1. GiSookSa : Dormitory  This is the most representative method. There are dormitories provided by the university, and there are dormitories provided by the province to students who come to Seoul from the province. When you live in a dormitory, you can meet a variety of students as a roommate. Staying with your roommates is not lonely and you can depend on each other. It is also cheaper to live in a dormitory. Although it costs meals, it is advantageous for the dormitory to be cheaper than the cost of attends.  I stayed in a university dormitory and used the same room as three students. One of them is a friend, and the other is a friend I met in a dor

Seoul story #3-1. How to get a driver's license in Korea

Cars are a really convenient transportation. However, in order to drive a car, you must have a license. So this time I will post 'How can get a driver's license in Korea'. There is a way to go to a private institute, but in this article, I want to let you know about the process of acquisition at the driving license examination center.  First, you must be 18 years old to get a driver's license in Korea. A motorcycle license can be acquired if you are 16 years old or older, but you can only drive a motorcycle. In this posting I will only deal with the car driver's license.  There are two main types of car license. It is 'One species normal' or 'Two species normal'. There are differences in the types of cars that can drive. For reference, today 'Two species normal' means 'two species - Auto' in general. In the case of Korea, because of the high penetration rate of automatic transmission, it is possible to drive many vehicles ev

Seoul story #3. Public transportation of Seoul

There are many ways to go to school. Of course, if the distance between your home and your school is too far away, you have to consider other ways, but I'll cover that in the next story. This time I try to write about the students who come and go to school. Students take the bus, ride the subway, and take a taxi. Some students go to school by car. Most students, however, tend to use public transportation.   1. Subway  It is the most typical commute. The subway has the advantage of running fast, and the subway fare is very cheap. For about 1,300won(1.2dollar), the distance can be comfortable. Also, the transfer system between subway lines is so good that you can see every corner of Seoul. It is well connected with satellite cities around Seoul as well as Seoul. However, the number of users is very large. The subway in commute time is very crowded. It can not catch the handle, it is moved by crowd. Therefore, it is the strategy of the students who commute to school to

Seoul story #2. A rainy day

Image
▲  The sight of the campus after the rain stopped.  After finishing the morning class, it suddenly began to rain when I had lunch. Of course there was rain in the weather forecast, but it was clear in the morning ... I went to the car parked in the parking lot and took out an umbrella. In this case, it is convenient to have a car. I use an umbrella, and I saw the girl who was unable to prepare her umbrella was standing under the roof of the building. I didn't know the girl, but I said "shall we share my umbrella with me?". I asked, and we moved along with the umbrella. I felt good about helping others.   ▲  There are trees on the street leading to school.  On the way home from school, I noticed that the trees were green with greenery. It was reported that it was completely springtime. And the rain just stopped with knowing. I felt good in the spring rain. Maybe it's because I helped others. And in my earphones, my favorite songs were coming out.
